New Students Loans Law


There is good news for all loan taker of past, present and future with a new amendment to renegotiate their monthly student loan bill to maximum 15% of their real income. These new laws are applicable from 1st of July. This will regulate student loan payment of Americans and these laws become a part of college cost reduction and access act.

This includes:

1. Low interest rates on need-based (subsidized) federal student loans: subsidized federal student loans will be decreased from 6% to 5.6% from the July 1st with the implantation of new laws and it will consistently decrease to 3.4% till 2011.

2. Affordable monthly college loan payments plan for borrowers: From the 1st of July with the implantation of new income-based repayment program, Loan taker is allowed to pay just 15% of their real income. The present and future loan taker whose loan payment is greater than 15% of their total income is benefited from this program. After 25 years borrower debts... will completely forgiven.

3. Pell Grant scholarships covering the average tuition at public universities: The maximum limit of the scholarship is 5350$ for the year 2009-2010 which is 600$ more than the last year and funding will be provide by both acts i.e. college cost reduction and access act AND the American recovery and Reinvestment act.

1. This program will help the student to take the advantages of other program on which this law is applicable this make easier for student to go into public service field. To encourage the student law provide up-front TEACH GRANTS for tuition help from minimum 4000$ to! 6000$ per year. These grants were started! Sty in 2008-2009 school year.

Student show their interest in public services job according to various recent surveys. The students who are interested in public service career like teachers, firefighter etc will be able for complete Loan forgiveness after 10 years if qualifying public service and loan payment.

The interest Rate

1. Almost 5.8 millions student take loans every year and most of the student belong to the families whom income is between 30000$-70000$ according to a research service.

2. Every year 40% African-American and 25 % Hispanic take federal student loan and need-based loan respectively.

The income-based repayment

1. it is hard to give a perfect estimate but approximately there were approximately 556$ in outstanding federal loans in year 2008 which were having almost 95 million student loans and more than 30 million borrowers. Almost 8.9 million student loan in year 2008.

The Federal Pell grant scholarship

1. In 2007-2008 school year there were almost 6 million student who got the Pell grant scholarship and 75% of them belongs to the families whom income is less than 30000$

2. 47% African-American and 37%Hispanic receive the Pell grant scholarship every year.

Are you qualified for income-based repayment?

1. The present loan taker who are pay back student loan and fresh loan taker whose debts increase 15% of their real income. The loan taker who have intense loan loads and not having good jobs will be qualified.

2. This program cover all the federal loans both director and family education loans- made to student including Stafford Grad plus and federal consolidation loans but not made those loans to parents. The borrower is also eligible for Perkin loans if he consolidate them in to FFEL or Direct loan

3. Last thing is that the qualify for a reduced payment if he have more dept comparing to his income. For example if the earning of a borrower is 150% below of their poverty level of their family size then he have to 0$.
